Prayers Answered

With great concern we have been watching carefully via the net the flood in Fargo. Like thousands of others, we have been praying for a break in the water levels. It appears the Lord's heard those prayers and tempered the element. We are happy for our tired, exhausted Fargo/ND friends and hope, after this blizzard going through today and tomorrow, that perhaps the light will be at the end of the tunnel.

First we Work, and then we Play

My kids are tired of hearing "first we work and then we play" but that's how it goes in our house.

The Work: Last week was spring break...and the weather cooperated pretty well.
Our family project for the break was to remove sod for a garden. And by Saturday it was finished, sod hauled away and now it awaits planting. Yea! Although people tell me raspberries won't grow down here and that makes me a little mad and disappointed!

The Play:

Matt and Todd went to the first two Rounds of the NCAA games at the Sprint Center, Matt's senior gift.

They watched 6-8 games, 2nd row (not because we bought great seats, but because those people never showed up and Matt and Todd took them over). Heaven for those Hendricksons.

Grandpa and I joined them at Jack Stack's in between games for dinner. Ymmm....

In case you're wondering where Nathan was in all of this, after several days of work, his play was camping with friends...ATVs, motorcycles, no shower--his idea of heaven.

Floods up North

Our thoughts and prayers are with our good friends up north as the sandbagging efforts have begun. How can you have fond memories of so much work and anguish, but somehow you do. Spring in Fargo is long awaited and welcomed; however, floods in the thawing process are rarely avoided.

We will be praying for you all....

Missing Everyone

We enjoyed our quick weekend trip back to North Dakota, despite driving through the worst weather conditions we've ever driven in before. It was worth it.

Matt's old basketball team invited him to practice with them, which he did and enjoyed...sort of. It was all a little "weird" for him. Going back is never the same. He's processing it all.

Special thanks to Liberty for the beautiful artwork that now graces our refrigerator.

We all enjoyed catching up with so many wonderful friends and people that we love and will forever hold in our hearts.

The End has Come

It's officially over. Matt's high school basketball career ended last night with an unexpected loss in districts to a team they'd beat twice previously. He admits to mixed feelings, some regrets, and excitement at the chance to go back "home" this weekend and practice with his friends on his old team before they have their go at their districts. Could be a little strange for him to sit in the stands at the civic instead of being out on the court.

Growing up is so hard to do....that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger. So we're headin' North--will someone please turn up the thermostat?

No lucky charms here

The Lees Summit North basketball team has had it's struggles all season, but we really thought they'd pull off the upset when one of them hit a three from 1/2 court in the LAST second to tie the game the other night. But in overtime we just shut down and lost for the third time to Lees Summit.

And all of us almost missed this picture in the paper....

Matt's last official high school game is Friday (senior night), and he's ready to be done. Districts begin Monday. We don't anticipate making it on to Regions, but who knows....

To say that Matt is anxious to get up to North Dakota and practice with his old Central Cass team is an understatement. And that won't happen if his team here does well and makes it to Regions. He promises not to throw the game, but is tempted...

Nathan's ball ended two weeks ago and he's looking forward to the stake b-ball tourney this weekend.

LOST? Not Anymore (we hope)!

We hope we found the answer to Todd's chronic condition of being directionally challenged. With a little help from Garmin (getta, getta, getta Garmin) Todd will no longer be roaming the streets and highways of his seven state region.

We're hoping he will make it home a little earlier. We're hoping he can find his way to the boy's away games quicker. We're hoping he can find a Subway instead of McDonalds:)

His dad put it in perspective for us this morning when he said, "You mean my little boy is almost 50?"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TODD!
